For years, I chased success—long hours at work, bigger titles, more money.
I was proud to call myself a “self-made man.” I thought if I worked hard enough, everything would fall into place.

But three years ago, it all came crashing down.
I was laid off without warning. My identity—tied so closely to my job—shattered.
I fell into depression. I stopped going to church.
Even though my wife prayed for me daily, I felt distant from God... and honestly, I blamed Him.

One day, I received a call from an old friend from church.
He said, “God hasn’t given up on you. Come back.”
That phone call broke something in me.
I went back to church that Sunday—not because I had it together, but because I didn’t.

It was there that I rediscovered grace.
Not the kind you earn.
Not the kind that depends on your job title.
But the kind that meets you at rock bottom and lifts you up.

Today, I work in a smaller company with less pay—but I have more peace than ever before.
I serve on the church’s men's group. I help lead financial literacy workshops for young adults.
God gave me a second chance—not just to work, but to live with purpose.

🙏 간증: 탈진에서 믿음으로 — 직장에서 경험한 하나님의 은혜

수년 동안 저는 성공을 좇으며 살았습니다.
긴 근무 시간, 높은 직책, 더 많은 연봉.
스스로를 “자수성가한 사람”이라 자부했습니다.
열심히만 하면 모든 것이 제자리에 맞춰질 거라 믿었습니다.

그런데 3년 전, 모든 것이 무너졌습니다.
아무런 예고도 없이 해고를 당했습니다.
제 정체성은 직업과 밀접하게 연결되어 있었기에, 저는 철저히 무너졌습니다.
우울감에 빠졌고, 교회도 끊었습니다.
아내는 매일 저를 위해 기도했지만, 저는 하나님과 멀어졌고, 솔직히 하나님을 원망했습니다.

그러던 어느 날, 교회 친구에게서 전화가 왔습니다.
그는 이렇게 말했습니다. “하나님은 널 포기하지 않으셨어. 다시 돌아와.”
그 말에 마음의 뭔가가 무너졌습니다.
그 주일, 저는 교회로 다시 나갔습니다.
모든 게 정리되었기 때문이 아니라, 정리가 안 되었기 때문이었습니다.

그곳에서 저는 은혜를 다시 만났습니다.
성과로 얻는 것이 아니라,
직책이나 능력으로 얻는 것이 아니라,
가장 밑바닥에서 나를 일으켜 세우는 은혜를 말입니다.

지금 저는 더 작은 회사에서 더 적은 연봉을 받지만, 마음에 훨씬 더 큰 평안을 누리고 있습니다.
교회 남성 사역팀에서 봉사하고 있고, 청년들을 위한 재정 워크숍을 돕고 있습니다.
하나님은 제게 두 번째 기회를 주셨습니다.
단지 일하는 것이 아니라, 목적 있는 삶을 살아가는 기회를요.
